Fixing family computer’s just came naturally and helped me hone my repair skills.” Ross has become a highly efficient and productive shop technician with some of the highest repair numbers in the company.

Robert Griffin

Shop Technician

Certifications: Apple Certified Technician

Born in Ontario, Canada, Robert arrived in Georgia 16 years ago. His interest in computers was inherited from dad who was a physics major before CS majors existed.  “I played the hell out of his crappy commodore 64 and DOS games (police quest, zak mckraken, etc.) and constantly disassembled his equipment until he gave up on trying to stop me and got me a computer of my own, which I promptly ran into the ground and turned into a Frankenstein. (went through 3 power supplies, 2 motherboards, 4 graphics cards..).” Robert’s scholastic path at Georgia State University included distinction within the national society of collegiate scholars. He began with computer science, delved into microbiology and ended up in psychology despite a dangerous streak of astronomy classes.  Basically, go science! From there it was on to a technical career which included administering the website and POS system at “eno” restaurant, ATM repair at Wachovia/WF and various and sundry technical pursuits before finding his way into our clutches here at Onyx. Rob also serves as a systems administrator for our “OnyxSync” online backup product.

James Scott

Shop Technician

Certifications: ACMT 10.7 (Apple Certified Macintosh Technician)
ACSP 10.5 (Apple Certified Support Professional)

Born in Orlando, FL – James is a skilled member of our in-shop team. His first computer was a Bondi Blue iMac but, his interest in electronics started with a Nintendo 64. “When I was 12 I got a N64 for Christmas. I accidentally pulled it off our TV stand one day and broke it. I decided I’d fix it myself and later that night I took it apart on our living room floor. While sitting there amongst all the components I realized I was having more fun fixing it than I ever did playing games on it. From that point on I was taking apart and tinkering with anything that had a circuit board.” Shortly after moving to GA in 2003 he finished high school and enrolled at North Georgia Technical College to study CIS. While attending school he continued fixing family and friend’s computers to make a few extra bucks. This quickly turned into more than a means of extra income and he was soon providing IT support services to residents and small businesses in the North Georgia area. Restless from the slow paced mountain-life, James moved to Atlanta and joined Onyx Consulting. We’re glad he found us.

Other Interests: hiking & camping, skateboarding, cooking, blues/jazz, travel.
